  1. I hope that you at least looked around and found my headphone stands before you decided to make these cheap obvious ripped-off ideas from me. Mine have been on pinterest and Etsy for 4 years, and I actually took the time to research and discover that there was NOTHING like this at the time that used this pipe design and and a wooden base. I was the first. And what are you even selling here? You give instructions for people to build their own, stain it themselves, assemble it themselves, etc? So you can burn 2 letters onto scrap wood for them?! Anyone crafty enough to stain and assemble this themselves won’t be interested… and the ones who actually want quality buy from people who put time/effort/skill/ORIGINAL THOUGHT into material products. Quit selling this ASAP.

    1. Greetings Brett, Thank you so much for checking out our DIY article and thank you for commenting. We appreciate your feedback, so please allow us the opportunity to respond in kind.

“I hope that you at least looked around and found my headphone stands before you decided to make these cheap obvious ripped-off ideas from me.”

First off, do NOT flatter yourself. We did NOT look around and find your headphone stands or get ‘inspired’ by your stand and design. Even though you claim yours have been in the market (pinterest and Etsy) for four years, we have never visited your Etsy shop or pinterest board.

“Mine have been on pinterest and Etsy for 4 years, and I actually took the time to research and discover that there was NOTHING like this at the time that used this pipe design and and a wooden base.”

After checking out the link you posted above, your site was actually opened 2 years ago (not 4 like you claim), and our products are very different from yours. You claim there were no pipe design and wooden bases at the time, but a simple Google or Etsy Search shows other crafters making these items, and they rank higher than you!

“And what are you even selling here? You give instructions for people to build their own, stain it themselves, assemble it themselves, etc? So you can burn 2 letters onto scrap wood for them?! You’re commenting on a Do-It-Yourself blog, where we show our readers exactly how to make these items themselves. Don’t be angry because we’re showing people how to make something you charge a bunch of money to make. Although we’re teaching people how they can make it themselves, some people are not able to make it because they have no interest in making it, or they don’t have the time/ability or equipment/materials to do it. When we lived in New York City we’d have to take public transportation to visit the big box hardware store. A simple 30 minute trip for you in Utah can take hours for someone living in LA, Chicago or NYC. We are fortunate enough to afford and have access to the tools needed to cut the lumber, stain the material, wood-burn it, and do much more. But we understand not everyone has or wants to do that. THAT is partly why we offer a completed kit they can finish themselves, or a completed unit made to their specifications.

I think your attempt to be slanderous here was to draw traffic to your own site, and if that’s the case, here’s your 15 minutes of fame. Congrats. However, if you want to turn this exchange into a positive experience, I implore you to remember some folks do not have the means to make this item themselves, that is why we offer a kit and a finished product.

Also, don’t get upset someone creates something somewhat similar to yours, and then slander/accuse them (us) of stealing “your idea”. If you’re so upset that the products are somewhat similar, you may not be angry at us, but may be angry at yourself because we can do what you wanted to do, better than you can.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read the blog and comment. Next time, please educate yourself and refrain from making slanderous accusations without merit because it makes you seem desperate, Brett, from the ChampagneHorizon Etsy Shop.
