“Christmas time is here. Happiness and cheer. Fun for all that children call their favorite time of the year”…And mine too! I just love the feeling of this holiday. There’s really nothing like it when you celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
I love the anticipation of Christmas too. Prepping the house and trimming the tree is something I look forward to as soon as there’s a chill in the air.
At our house, our tree goes up the weekend before Thanksgiving. It’s a tradition that began with my mom when my brother and I were little. She loved having the tree up during thanksgiving dinner and I do too. I want this time of year to last as long as possible at my house.
Here are a few pictures of our trees being decorated this year…yes I’m guilty of putting up fake trees. I just cant seem to keep any type of plant alive. My dad says I’m the only person he knows that can end up with a dead cactus.

Christmas Decorations
This year, I chose to do something a little different for our garland. Instead of the traditional garland, I decided to make one out of ornaments.
All I did was measure the area where I would be hanging the garland of ornaments with twine. I passed the twine through the first ornament and tied a knot to keep it in place. I then strung about 325 ornaments. When I strung the last ornament I tied a knot around it to keep it in place and keep them all from falling out. I then hung it up with a couple of “J” hooks.
**I used the same ornaments for the garland as I did for our tree, to tie things in beautifully.
Here’s a really great way to give those ugly poinsettia pots a face lift. I really don’t like the foil that both real and fake ones come in, so I gave them a little makeover with some left over ribbon from the skinny tree and wreath.

And because we cannot forget about the kids, here’s a “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” picture frame that’s perfect for anyone on their list. All you have to do is: Paint an unfinished wooden picture frame ($1 at Walmart or Michaels) in light brown. Glue Googly eyes, a red pom pom OR Round red felt for the nose, and antlers cut from stiff brown felt. Add a picture, gift wrap and you’re done!
