Kids Canvas DIY     Canvas DIY (1)

This project is perfect for kids of all ages who love to paint and draw. My kids and I love it because each one of the kids produces a different work of art that I can display on my wall.

Canvas Paintings are a great project to have the kids make as a gift for Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa or any loved one! An added bonus is that this gift can be done year round. Imagine throwing a Canvass Paint party for your child’s next playdate.

You’ll love looking back at their paintings as they get older, and they will too.

Theres not much you’ll need for this project. The items are pretty inexpensive but the results are priceless.

Materials You’ll Need

(I purchased all my materials at Wal-Mart, but they can be found at any craft store like Hobby Lobby, or Michaels)

Suggestions

1. Prepare the paint area

I suggest laying some brown packing paper or paper bags, or cardboard on the surface the kids will be working on. This will prevent your furniture from getting tarnished.

2. Provide some suggestions or subjects

Often times kids will have a great sense of creativity. If they are anything like mine, they will have a ton of ideas and the hardest part will be getting enough canvasses to keep them busy 🙂 If you are making a holiday specific painting (Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc.) it may help to throw some ideas for the kids to expand and make their own. For example draw Mommy wearing her favorite NY Giants Jersey, or draw the family.

 3. Finishing

Drying times vary by the type of paint you get, so read the instructions/directions on the packaging. Once the kids (or you) are done painting, write the artist’s name on the back, add the date, and set the canvass aside. You’re done!

Enjoy the art with your family and friends, and cherish those memories.
