Theres no doubt that canvas art is all the rage these days. Why wouldn’t they be, they’re awesome! I especially love these miniature canvases. they’re so cute! and theres so many things you can do with them too.
This canvas photo is one of my favorite things i’ve done with these miniature canvases. take a look at how easy it was to make.
Heres what you’ll need to get started:
- Miniature canvas (2.5 x 2.5)
- Miniature easel
- Printed photo
- Glue (mod podge)
- Sponge brush
- Exacto Knife
Choose and print a photo that is slightly bigger than the size of the miniature canvas, this way you can wrap it around the canvas on all sides.
These miniature canvases are 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches so i printed out a 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 photo
Place your photo over your canvas and center it. Place the canvas with the photo faced down on a flat surface. Once you’ve got your photo centered on your canvas the way you want it, fold up the sides. This is going to help you place the photo back on the canvas when you’re ready to glue it in place
Use your pencil to mark the area where you will cut in order to be able to fold you photo over the canvas. Think of this step as if you were wrapping a present, but instead of folding the corners, you’ll be removing them instead 🙂
Cut those corners off
While your photo is still facing down on a flat surface, brush a thin layer of glue over the canvas and place the canvas back on your photo. Lift the canvas (picture will be glued on) and rub the photo lightly using your fingers to remove any air bubbles.
Brush glue on the sides (one side at a time) and fold the excess pieces of the photo to cover the sides of the canvas and smooth lightly with your finger.
**About 15 minutes after this step you can also brush a thin layer of mod podge/sealer over the entire photo to seal in the image.
Once the glue dries your work is ready to be mounted on the miniature easel and YOU’RE DONE! This miniature canvas photo makes a great and thoughtful gift for anyone.
There are so many other things that can be done with these miniature canvases, for example:
You can paint then stamp them
Let your little Picasso paint a picture on one
Print a miniature poster of your favorite movie (mine is Jaws, my husbands is Ghost busters)
And those miniature easels can be left unfinished, painted, wood stained, embellished/bedazzled or wood burned.
So go ahead and create one of these little art pieces yourself, Try making them in different sizes too. You can paint on some, add photos on others and display them around the house 🙂
