We LOVE chests as end of tour/retirement gifts. You can fill them with items that remind the recipient of the unit they are leaving (pictures, patches, awards, etc.), or fill it with items they will use in their new chapter of life.
We This Military chest is made from solid Pine, measuring 24 x 12-3/4 x 11-3/4″ inches tall. The box was stained in a dark color, and personalized with a matted blue felt on the lid.
We also added a 3×5 folded flag display to the lid, encased behind plexiglass.
As a popular design option, the client asked us to add their service member’s rank and last name on the outside of the chest. Typically, we add design elements such as the Marine Corp’s Eagle, Globe and Anchor (EGA) or an Army Star, Air Force Wings or Coast Guard/Navy Anchors centered beneath. 🇺🇸
SHADOW BOX:
The shadow box was another personalized item. Instead of adding a shadowbox tray, we added a split tray so the recipient can store medals and awards behind plexiglass, and an open spot to store challenge coins.
Here’s a few additional details of the shadowbox tray:
✅ The shadow box is wood stained and fits snugly inside the chest.
✅ We attach felt material over cork to the inside/background of the shadow box so you can assemble ribbons, patches, photos etc.
✅ The shadowbox is enclosed behind shatter-proof plexiglass.
Underneath the tray we’ve allowed approximately a 5-inch clearance so you can continue to store items of your choosing underneath. For example, photo albums (yes, print the pics instead of only storing them electronically and never looking at them).
Instead of handles, we used 5/8″ ropes as the handles, in-keeping with the naval theme requested by the customer.
